    Changing coins in China (Shanghai)?

Like all good Americans, I am terrible at spending coins collected as change when making purchases. Over the last three years, I have amassed an estimated 2000RMB worth of coins- mostly yi kuais. Does anyone know how to change them into bills...my guess is the bank won't do it...tell me I'm wrong!
